Three departments exist in our School of Theology: a department responsible for the training of priests; another for the training of catechism teachers; and a third for the training of precentors. (An extra-curricular activity centered on iconography is also available in the department of catechism.)
All training is carried out in accordance with the programs and textbooks designed and/or approved by the Moscow Theological Seminary.
The school offers a number of educational programs:
A theological Orthodox Christian education consisting of the Old and New Testaments, dogmatic, comparative, moral, and doctrinal theology, the beliefs of various non-Orthodox denominations, and an introduction to philosophy;
A classical education consisting of Bible (or theological) history, history of the ancient, undivided church, Russian Orthodox Church history, Orthodox Christian catechism, Church Slavonic language, Church law, and Liturgics;
Aesthetic programs incorporating the study of Church ethics and aesthetics; and
Programs of musical education (i.e. the study of music theory and solfeggio, Church singing, psalmody, art, piano, and the history of Church service singing). Students learn to actively and regularly participate in Church services.
The precentors' training department offers piano, conducting, and voice training classes; for those who have no special musical training, an extra- curricular study of the theory of music and harmony is available.
A rather fine library has been established where students can borrow necessay literature to prepare their assigned classroom tasks.
